Pharmaceutical Packaging Companies in Germany: Buyer’s Guide

When sourcing pharmaceutical packaging in Germany, start with the required component. Gerresheimer and SCHOTT Pharma describe glass and other primary containers. GAPLAST focuses on plastic container and dispensing systems. Faller Packaging supplies printed secondary components. Uhlmann builds packaging machinery. These are distinct procurement categories, not a ranked list of interchangeable suppliers.

This shortlist uses current company product pages checked in September 2026. It is not a quality ranking or a complete directory. Some firms operate globally, so a German headquarters does not prove that every catalog item is manufactured in Germany. Confirm the actual product, contracting entity and proposed site.

Primary drug containers

Gerresheimer — glass and plastic systems

Gerresheimer’s primary-packaging range includes glass and plastic bottles, vials, ampoules, cartridges and prefillable syringes. The choice between those formats depends on the dosage form, formulation, filling process and route of administration. Request the exact drawing, material and closure specification for the proposed item; a broad company portfolio is not evidence that one container fits every product. Ask which plant will supply the format and which documents cover that plant and item.

SCHOTT Pharma — vials, ampoules and injectable systems

SCHOTT Pharma lists vials, ampoules, cartridges and syringes made with pharmaceutical glass or selected polymer materials. That makes it particularly relevant to injectable-container projects. Specify the fill and closure process, drug-contact requirements, intended storage, line dimensions and desired delivery condition before comparing formats. Evaluate the proposed container with the complete closure system and the actual drug, rather than selecting by glass name alone.

GAPLAST — plastic bottles and dispensing systems

GAPLAST identifies pharmaceutical multidose bottles, spray or dropper systems, bag-in-bottle formats and closures for tablet tubes. Its published German locations are Altenau and Peiting. This is a useful candidate for a plastic pack with a specific dispensing function. For an enquiry, include viscosity or formulation type, delivered dose, closure or pump interface, shelf conditions and filling-line details. Ask for samples of the assembled system, not just the outer bottle.

Printed components and packaging equipment

Faller Packaging — cartons, labels and leaflets

Faller describes folding cartons, adhesive labels, leaflets and combination secondary-packaging components for pharmaceuticals. These items carry information and protect or organize the primary pack; they do not replace drug-contact packaging. Send approved artwork, carton dieline, substrate and print requirements, line dimensions, inspection needs and the revision-control process. Confirm the manufacturing site assigned to the quoted component.

Uhlmann — blister, bottle and cartoning lines

Uhlmann’s product pages cover blister machines, cartoners and integrated pharmaceutical packaging lines. It is a machinery supplier rather than a vendor of finished medicine bottles. A line enquiry needs the dosage form, container or blister specification, target operations, output range, changeover needs, site interfaces and acceptance criteria. The line and the packaging materials must be assessed together, but they are separate purchases and qualifications.

A practical comparison brief

State whether the requirement is a primary drug-contact package, a printed secondary component or equipment. Then provide each matching candidate with the intended contents, dosage form, material, container and closure drawings, fill method, shelf and transport conditions, destination market and expected quantity. Ask for samples and product- and site-specific documentation. For a machine, add the line configuration, controls, integration and service requirements.

Search directories frequently place machinery firms, drug manufacturers and material suppliers in one “pharmaceutical packaging” list. Their order may reflect company size or a matching algorithm, not fitness for your formulation. Screen by actual product role before comparing offers.

If the project is specifically for PET or HDPE pharmaceutical bottles and closures, our bottle supplier checklist can help structure the enquiry. You may also send Zhuojing Package the intended fill, bottle size, closure, quantity and destination market to discuss product fit.
