Syrup Bottle Packaging: A Buyer’s RFQ Checklist

To request an accurate syrup bottle packaging quote, specify the intended fill volume, liquid formulation, filling conditions, bottle material and color, closure, seal, dosing accessory, order quantity and delivery destination. Ask the supplier to identify exactly which components the price includes. A bottle-only quote and a quote for a bottle, cap, liner and measuring cup are different offers.

A request for quotation (RFQ) does not need to be long. It needs to make the package clear enough that suppliers are pricing the same requirements. Use the checklist below to prepare an inquiry, compare replies and decide which samples to evaluate.

Syrup bottle packaging RFQ checklist with amber PET bottles, caps, liners and measuring cup

What should a syrup bottle packaging RFQ include?

RFQ item Information to provide What the supplier should confirm
Product and filling process Type of oral liquid, relevant formulation details, viscosity and filling conditions Proposed material and components for sample evaluation, with any limitations
Bottle Intended fill volume, preferred shape, color and any size constraints Model, capacity definition, dimensions, neck drawing and available label area
Closure and seal Opening requirements, sealing process and any tamper-evidence requirement Exact cap and liner specification, component compatibility and what is included
Dosing accessory Required accessory type, markings and how it will be packed Accessory model, fit and the proposed checks for its intended use
Decoration and packing Label or printing plans, carton requirements and delivery destination Decoration scope, packing arrangement and shipping basis
Commercial details Initial order quantity, expected repeat demand and requested delivery date Minimum order quantity, itemized pricing, sample terms and production timing

If a requirement is undecided, say so. For example, ask for the proposed cap and seal to be listed separately rather than allowing an unspecified closure to become part of the quote. Share confidential formulation information through an agreed process.

Define the fill volume and physical bottle separately

Give the volume you intend to fill, then ask how the supplier defines the listed bottle capacity. Confirm the available headspace and the dimensions of the assembled pack. A capacity description alone does not tell your filling team whether a bottle will fit its handling equipment or your packaging team whether the label artwork will fit.

Zhuojing Package’s medical syrup bottle range currently displays PET bottles from 30ml to 500ml with a listed 28mm neck finish. The following examples come from the individual product specifications:

Listed bottle Material Diameter Body height, without cap Listed neck finish
60ml amber syrup bottle PET 38mm 93mm 28mm
100ml amber oral liquid bottle PET 43mm 105mm 28mm
150ml amber syrup bottle PET 49mm 127mm 28mm

These catalog dimensions help narrow the inquiry. Request the current drawing, tolerances and assembled height before approving a model. Body height excludes the cap, and the listed diameter is not a label-size specification.

Specify the cap, liner and dosing accessory as part of the order

A shared 28mm description is not enough to approve a cap. Ask the supplier to match the exact bottle neck and closure drawings, including the thread and sealing interface. If you already use a cap, send its specification or a reference sample instead of relying on a photograph.

Keep the closure and seal explicit in the RFQ. State whether a child-resistant closure is required for the project, what opening behavior is expected and whether your line uses an induction-sealing process. Request evidence relevant to the proposed assembled package where a performance claim needs verification. A cap name alone does not establish suitability.

Do not accept a liner substitution without reviewing it. The induction seal versus pressure-sensitive liner guide explains the distinction; the final selection still needs to be checked with the actual liquid, bottle, closure and filling process.

If the pack includes a measuring cup or another dispensing accessory, include it in both the sample request and the quotation. Specify the required markings and how the accessory will be supplied. Also ask whether any adapter or additional component is needed. Confirm the proposed accessory with your product team rather than assuming that any cup placed over a cap will meet the project’s requirements.

Request samples that answer the outstanding questions

An empty bottle sample is useful for checking shape, handling and label layout. It cannot establish how the complete package will perform with your liquid. Request the proposed bottle, cap, liner and accessory together, and identify which specifications still need confirmation.

Agree on the evaluation scope before placing the bulk order. Depending on the project, this may include:

  • Filling and capping trials using the intended process.
  • Leak checks with the final closure and seal under agreed storage and transport conditions.
  • Review of material compatibility and any required light-protection evidence.
  • Opening, reclosing, pouring and accessory fit checks.
  • Label application and checks of the packed bottle inside its shipping arrangement.

Write down the acceptance criteria and who will approve the results. An amber appearance, a successful water demonstration or a general material description should not stand in for the evidence required by your specific formulation and finished product.

Compare the scope of each quote before comparing unit prices

Send the same dated RFQ and current drawing revision to each supplier. If you change the bottle model, closure or other requirement during the quote round, issue an updated version and ask which version each response prices. Record proposed substitutions and unresolved questions beside the quoted price.

Ask each supplier to separate the bottle, closure, liner, accessory, decoration and packing costs where applicable. Record tooling or setup charges, sample costs, shipping terms and any exclusions. This makes it easier to see whether a lower price reflects a different package.

Timing needs a clear starting point too. Ask whether the stated production period begins after sample approval, artwork approval, payment or another agreed milestone, and whether transport time is additional. Obtain the terms for the chosen model and order quantity; a general website statement is not a project-specific delivery commitment.

Questions buyers ask before sending an RFQ

Can I request a quote before choosing a bottle size?

Yes. Provide the intended fill volume and any constraints on height, diameter, filling equipment or label area. Ask for candidate models and drawings. Pricing can then be tied to a specific option rather than an undefined bottle.

Does a 28mm neck mean an existing 28mm cap will fit?

It is not sufficient confirmation. Compare the exact neck and cap specifications, then check representative assembled samples. Include the liner or seal in that review.

Are the cap and measuring cup included in the bottle price?

Ask the supplier to state this in the quotation. Do not infer the supplied components from a product photograph. List every component that must be delivered with the bottle.

Which documents should I request?

Identify the documents your quality team needs for the intended product and market, then ask which apply to the specific bottle, material, color and components. A document for another model or material may not cover your order.

Discuss your syrup bottle packaging requirements

Send Zhuojing Package your RFQ with the intended fill volume, preferred model, closure and seal requirements, estimated quantity and destination. Include any existing component drawings or reference samples. We can review the request and discuss candidate bottles and matching components for evaluation.
